Our Specialty

At DeepClean Community Services, cleaning is about more than just tidying—it’s about creating safer, healthier, and more comfortable living environments. Hoarding and squalor can be overwhelming and stressful for both residents and their loved ones, and our team is here to help with care, professionalism, and respect.

Hoarding

Definition: “A persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions because of a perceived need to save them.”

Living with hoarding can be challenging for everyone involved. Our experienced cleaners are trained to handle the unique difficulties of hoarding, approaching each home with sensitivity and understanding. We recognise that individuals with hoarding behaviours often have strong emotional attachments to their belongings, which can make family involvement in the clean-up process difficult.

Health and Safety Risks of Hoarding:

  • Increased likelihood of fire.

  • Difficulty safely evacuating in an emergency.

  • Delayed access for firefighters or other emergency responders.

  • Higher risk of falls and injuries.

  • Increased social isolation and impact on mental wellbeing.

  • Health and safety concerns for children.

  • Strain on relationships with partners or family members.

Hoarding is recognised as a mental health condition and can pose moderate to severe risks to residents’ safety and wellbeing. Our goal is to restore a safe, hygienic, and comfortable home while respecting the dignity of those living there.

Squalor

Definition: “The state of being extremely dirty and unpleasant, often as a result of neglect.”

Squalor can develop through domestic neglect—such as unremoved rubbish or unmanaged biohazard materials—or from hoarding that has escalated into unsafe living conditions. Squalor cleans involve the careful handling of biohazards, including live or deceased animals, faeces, urine, blood, and mould, ensuring the home is safe for everyone.

Health and Safety Risks of Squalor:

  • Faeces may contain bacteria and viruses such as C-Diff, COVID-19, Hepatitis A and E, Giardia, E. coli, Cholera, and Norovirus.

  • Urine can also carry harmful bacteria and germs.

  • Both faeces and urine contain ammonia, which can irritate or damage eyes, nose, throat, and lungs. High exposure may lead to blindness, lung damage, or death.

  • Blood can contain viruses such as Hepatitis, HIV, or malaria.

  • Mould can trigger sneezing, coughing, wheezing, respiratory infections, and worsen asthma or allergies.

Living in squalor is recognised as a mental health condition and can create severe risks for residents and visitors.
Our team approaches every clean with care, professionalism, and respect, helping to restore a safer, healthier, and more comfortable home environment.
